Mike Scioscia joins the 2K club

Monday night's game vs. the Seattle Mariners is manager Mike Scioscia's 2,000th game with the Angels.

It's a surprisingly cozy club in the American League, where only eight other managers have managed that many games with one team. The most recent member is Tom Kelly, who managed the Minnesota Twins from 1986 to 2001. Scioscia, whose first season in Anaheim was 2000, is still 5,591 games behind the Philadelphia A's Connie Mack.

"I think it reflects the success of our organization that lets one manager have a chance to manage for this amount of time," Scioscia said. "We've got a lot on our plate to be thinking about stuff like this. It's not time to reminisce.

"There's no doubt the experience helps you and you the decision process becomes cleaner as you do something. The evaluation skills are honed. You learn from your experiences and you come out, probably, a different product than when you started at Game 1, but the philosophy's still the same."
