Angels general manager Tony Reagins said the club has signed more than 20 of its draft picks, including Mississippi high-school outfielder Ryan Bolden, the No. 40 overall pick and the Angels' fifth selection.

Bolden had an offer to attend Ole Miss, but he turned it down for the chance to start his professional career right away. Reagins didn't divulge Bolden's signing bonus, but it likely was in the $800,000 range based on baseball's slotting system.

Reagins said discussions with No. 18 overall pick Kaleb Cowart, a high-school third baseman from Georgia, have been "complicated." Cowart reportedly floated a figure of $3 million before the draft. He has signed a letter of intent to attend Florida State.

"It's always going to be a challenge to sign your No. 1 pick, especially if he he has options," Reagins said. "We're still optimistic something gets done. When you're dealing with high school players, there's always a risk they'll elect to go to college."
