John Lackey returns to the scene

It's hard to figure out what an Anaheim crowd will do when a former Angel returns.

Vladimir Guerrero and Darin Erstad were warmly greeted. Garret Anderson and Adam Kennedy were pretty much ignored. Mark Teixeira was -- and still is -- booed mercilessly. Odds are, John Lackey will fall in the latter camp for signing a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Boston Red Sox last winter.

Lackey faced the Angels earlier this year at Fenway Park, but Tuesday night _ when he opposes his good friend, Jered Weaver _ will be his first start at Angel Stadium as a visitor.

"I hope they respect the things I did here, for sure," Lackey said.

Lackey was the winning pitcher for Game 7 of the Angels' only World Series title, but fans have tended to be critical of him on call-in shows and message boards. After he left left, he made some comments about Fenway Park fans being more vociferous than those in Anaheim. He reiterated that Monday.

"It's a little different, yeah," Lackey said. "Everyone's amped up a couple degrees."
