Double-A manager resigns

By Mark Saxon

The man charged with helping develop the Angels' top prospects resigned to become an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee, the team announced Friday.

Bill Mosiello, the manager at Double-A Arkansas, told the team he was leaving after Thursday night's game. He managed the Travelers to a 36-31 record and locked up a playoff spot by winning the first half of the Texas League North division.

Todd Takayoshi, a minor-league hitting coordinator, will take over until July 31, when Bobby Mitchell will become the manager.

The Angels' top prospect, outfielder Mike Trout, is at Double-A Arkansas, as are their top pitching prospects, Garrett Richards and Trevor Reckling.

Mosiello will join the staff of Dave Serrano, who recently left Cal State Fullerton to take the Tennessee job.
