The Angels' newest reliever, Jason Isringhausen, once blew a save with two pitches. Bernie Williams hit one over the right-field wall at Yankee Stadium and David Justice hit one over the center-field wall.

The next day, the headline in the New York Post read, "Bang! Bang! You're dead."

So, he knows a thing or two about putting one day's failures behind you to get on with the next day's work. The 39-year-old ex-closer, signed on Wednesday to a minor-league deal, already has begun working with Angels' closer Jordan Walden, who made the All-Star team but blew 10 saves in his rookie season.

"Like most young closers, he takes it too hard," Isringhausen said. "Bruce Sutter once told me, 'You're the only guy on the team who drives to the ballpark every day knowing that, if you do bad, the team does bad. If it happens, you take a shower and leave it there.' That's a pretty good guy to listen to."
