LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul was named the Kia NBA Western Conference Player of the Month for games played in December, the league announced today.

Paul guided the Clippers to a 17-game winning streak and a 16-0 record in December, during which they won their games by an average margin of 15.8 points per game. Paul paced the league in steals with 2.63 steals per game and led the Western Conference in assists at 9.3 assists per game, while adding 16 points and three rebounds per contest. Paul had seven double-doubles (points and assists), including a 24-point, 13-assist and five-steal performance in a 97-85 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 21. The Clippers joined the 1995-96 Spurs and 1971-72 Lakers as the only teams in NBA history to complete a calendar month with a record of 16-0.

Paul joined Vinny Del Negro, who won the Western Conference Coach of the Month honor, as the first coach and player tandem to ever win the award in the same month for the Clippers.
