LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Dec. 16-22, the NBA announced Monday.
It is the second time this season Griffin has won the honor, after doing so last month, and the third time in his career he has won. Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat was the Eastern Conference winner.
Griffin averaged 26.0 points (third in the West), 11.3 rebounds (ninth in the conference) and 3.3 as he led the Clippers to a 4-0 record last week. He posted at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in three games and shot 49 percent (35 of 67) from the field and 87.5 percent (35 of 40) from the free throw line for the week.
