SAN DIEGO -- The original plan was to activate third baseman Juan Uribe Monday in Kansas City, but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that plan changed when Uribe told trainer Stan Conte he wanted to get more at-bats in minor-league rehab games.

Uribe, who has gone 4-for-11 so far with Class A Rancho Cucamonga, will play minor-league games Monday and Tuesday and be activated either Wednesday in Kansas City or Thursday in Los Angeles before a four-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Mattingly said the change in plans isn’t due to a recurrence of pain or tightness in Uribe’s right hamstring. He has been on the disabled list since May 21.

“It sounds like he isn’t totally comfortable. He said he needed a few more at-bats,” Mattingly said.
