Van Slyke, 26, played in 27 games for the Dodgers last season, batting .167 with two home runs and seven RBIs. He played in 95 games for Triple-A Albuquerque, batting .327 with 18 home runs and 67 RBIs.
Depending on what happens over the next 10 days, the Dodgers could hold onto Van Slyke, but he seems like a candidate to latch on with another team. Van Slyke is the son of longtime major-league outfielder Andy Van Slyke.
