PEORIA, Ariz. -- Reliever Shawn Tolleson injured his left knee while pitching to the San Diego Padres Tuesday and had to leave the game in the eight inning of the Dodgers' 7-3 loss.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tolleson felt a pop while pitching to Padres infielder Gregorio Petit after getting the first out of the inning. Tolleson walked off the field without a noticeable limp and was scheduled for further tests Tuesday evening.
"Something wasn't right. He was scared," Mattingly said.
Tolleson, 25, is competing for one of the Dodgers' final bullpen spots. He was 3-1 with a 4.30 ERA and 1.327 WHIP in 40 games for the Dodgers last season.
