Pat Corrales joins the Dodgers

By Mark Saxon

The Dodgers continued their push to surround general manager Ned Colletti with as many veteran baseball men as they can find.

The latest to join the team's front office is Pat Corrales, the ex-manager, who was hired as a special assistant to Colletti. Corrales became the first Mexican-American manager when he was hired by the Texas Rangers in 1978. He went on to manage in Philadelphia and Cleveland.

Corrales, 71, grew up in Fresno and played nine seasons in the major leagues with Philadelphia, the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres.

The Dodgers have already added veterans Gerry Hunsicker and Bob Engle to the front office this off-season.
