Zack Greinke set for Dodgers debut

By Mark Saxon

LOS ANGELES --The Los Angeles Dodgers appeared to dodge a major blow this spring when Zack Greinke's elbow scare proved to be nothing more than that.

But because Greinke missed two starts because of flu and inflammation in his elbow, he'll be monitored closely and probably limited to a pitch count of 100 or so, manager Don Mattingly said.

Greinke has made only one career start at Dodger Stadium, getting the win for the Milwaukee Brewers last May 31. Greinke gave up one run and nine hits with seven strikeouts in six innings. He said the spacious dimensions of Dodger Stadium were one of the reasons he signed a six-year, $147 million deal with the Dodgers in December. Greinke tends to be a fly ball pitcher.

"I haven't seen a whole lot other than some spring training starts, but he's been pretty consistent. He throws the ball where he wants, his command is sharp with all his stuff and he's a lot to handle," Mattingly said.

Here are lineups for Greinke's debut vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates:

1. Starling Marte LF
2. Neil Walker 2B
