Hanley Ramirez's hamstring acting up

By Mark Saxon

LOS ANGELES -- When Hanley Ramirez's right hamstring didn't loosen up properly before a pinch-hitting appearance Thursday night, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told him not to run hard out of the box, to avoid further injury.

He wound up walking and could jog home in front of Yasiel Puig, who hit a grand slam.

When Ramirez got to the stadium Friday and still was feeling soreness in the area, Mattingly became concerned the All-Star shortstop could head back to the 15-day disabled list. The Dodgers haven't made such a move yet, but it could be forthcoming.

Ramirez just returned from the DL Tuesday after missing 28 games because of the hamstring injury. For now, he is day to day.

"For me, it's a concern because it ended up being another day," Mattingly said. "[Head trainer] Stan [Conte] seems to think we've just got to get him through this little period of stiffness."

Ramirez, batting .333 with a .667 slugging percentage in 18 at-bats, was replaced at shortstop Friday night by Luis Cruz, batting .134. Outfielders Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford are currently on the DL because of hamstring injuries.
