Alec Martinez provided a glimpse of his hockey skills while appearing in four games for the Kings last season. The 23-year-old defenseman is known for his offensive abilities, particularly on the power play, and was leading the Manchester Monarchs in scoring when he was called up by the Kings on Tuesday.
He didn't waste any time showing what he can provide, jumping in on a second-period power play Wednesday at Montreal and scoring his first NHL goal in the 4-1 loss.
Martinez, a native of Rochester Hills, Mich. who owns an accounting degree from Miami of Ohio, took a minute following practice Friday to share a few things about himself, such as the circumstances of his first-ever goal, how he prefers to celebrate after putting the puck in the net, his taste in music and his favorite places to visit.
