Early thoughts: Team USA should win this game but the Swiss goaltender, Jonas Hiller of the Anaheim Ducks, is absolutely capable of stoning the opposition, standing on his proverbial head, making 50-plus saves and stealing a game for his teammates. Swiss are very disciplined and have played 45 games together going into this tournament, an experience which will go a long way toward compensating for the fact that they have only two NHLers in their lineup--Hiller and defenseman Mark Streit of the New York Islanders.

And remember, this Swiss team beat both the Czech Republic and Canada in Turin in 2006.

And they're setting the physical pace early in this one--a couple of solid thumps, including one on Bobby Ryan of the Ducks that seemed to stun him momentarily.

Just prior to the halfway mark of the first period and Team USA gets the first power play opportunity. But it goes for naught as they only manage one shot.
