LOS ANGELES -- In a playoff-like game that featured just about everything, Sharks forward Ryane Clowe made a play no one had seen before.
Clowe was on the bench with about two minutes remaining in the third period of a tied game Thursday night, when he stuck out his stick and nicked the puck away from Kings forward Jarret Stoll, disrupting a potential 3-on-2 for the Kings.
Though nearly everyone inside Staples Center seemed to witness the move, none of the on-ice officials appeared to catch the slick maneuver, and the game ventured into overtime and then a shootout. The Sharks ultimately prevailed, 6-5, to stay in the hunt for the Pacific Division title.
Based on the reaction in the postgame video interviews above, it's clear no one had ever witnessed such a play in their careers.
It will be interesting to see how the league handles the situation with the postseason set to begin next week.
