Kings dominating early. Jarrett Stoll with an intercepted pass and shot, just misses wide, then Dustin Brown shoots high and wide.
Kings 17-18 in sudden-death overtime in their team history. Thanks for that stat, Bob Miller.
Wayne Simmonds with a great backhand chance in close.
What a save by Quick, diving to his left to stop the one-timer from Henrik Sedin. And Quick stops him again on the wraparound try.
Then Roberto Luongo makes a great swarming save on Jack Johnson and another on Ryan Smyth, from just inside the blue line. What's he doing that far away from the net?
Then at the 8:52 mark, Henrik Sedin from behind the net, with the pass to Mikael Samuelsson and he rips his second of the game past Quick for a 3-2 win.
OK, so the Kings are down 1-0 in the series, with Game 2 in Vancouver on Saturday night. But this was a good outing for the Kings and in particular for Jonathan Quick. He didn't win, but he played well and should feel really good about his performance. He outplayed Luongo tonight and proved to himself and his teammates that his confidence is back.
This is what the Kings and Quick have to keep doing--hang around, take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to them and keep playing the way they did tonight.
Next game, who knows? The bounces might go their way.
