Heading For OT Again

4/18/2010

Wow. Game is 40 minutes old and Drew Doughty is leading all players on both teams with 20:45 of ice time.

Thirty-eight seconds left on the power play for Vancouver on fresh sheet.

Kings kill it. Canucks now 1 of 3 on the power play tonight.

Kings doing a really good job against the Sedins so far: No points and they're a minus 2 and the Kings forecheck has caused five Canucks turnovers so far tonight. Two very good signs there that are absolutely related and which need to continue tonight.

Wayne Simmonds with another great play, a pull and drag in the Canucks zone that draws a penalty and leads to an extended opportunity for the Kings, who maintain possession on the delayed call. This guy has been the most effective player for the Kings tonight on both ends of the ice.

Kings 1 of 4 on the power play tonight as No. 5 starts.

Yikes: Ryan Kesler with the steal and shorthanded try and Jonathan Quick needs to be sharp.

Kings come right back and Fredrik Modin jamming Roberto Luongo on top of his crease. Luongo with the stop. Power play ends with nine shots on the power play by the Kings in their five opportunities and they're just 1 for 5.

We have a bit of a track meet going here, gang.

Ten minutes to go in regulation and wow, these Sedins are scary. Henrik with the pass to the front of the net and Daniel is right there for a tip that is stopped by a Quick and Doughty collaboration. Every time the twins head toward the net with the puck, you just know that they're going to come up with a scoring opportunity.

Kevin Bieksa with a one-timer from just inside the blue line with just under 9:00 to go and Quick makes a great save.

Again, both teams letting it hang out as this third period winds down. Up and down and lots of rushes and scoring chances for both teams.

What a play by Doughty to break up a 2 on 1 chance by the Sedins with about 4:00 to go in the period. Nice play with the stick to break up the pass from Daniel to Henrik and turn the play the other way.

Canucks with a ton of opportunities in the waning moments.

Under a minute to go and Doughty with a breathtaking, full speed spin off the boards, a backhand to himself and into the Canucks zone.

Kings on their heels a bit as this game ends in regulation--three straight icings, but they survive and head to a second straight OT session that will, again, decide this game by a 3-2 score.

Kings outshoot Canucks 30-22 in regulation. Let's see if they get the lucky bounce, tip or shot this time around.

Recap coming as soon as OT ends.
