This news will shock only the most optimistic among us, but Lakers PR sent out the message this afternoon:
Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol, who suffered an injury to his left hamstring in last night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, was examined today by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo. Results of an ultrasound test and an MRI show that Gasol has a mild-to-moderate strain of the left hamstring. His status for tomorrow’s game against the Houston Rockets is doubtful and he shall be listed as day-to-day beyond that.
I like the formality of "shall." Just saying. Anyhoo, my guess- that's all it is, just to be clear- is he won't try to play again without practicing first. That means no burn against Houston Tuesday, or Wednesday "at" the LA Clippers. Maybe he's back Friday night in Portland, maybe he misses a couple weeks. What we learned when Gasol hurt his right hamstring in the preseason still holds, namely that its a tough injury to project, very easy to re-injure, and caution, like honesty, is the best policy.
