Monday reading (Lakers and NBA news)

By Andy Kamenetzky

-Off since Thursday, it's been a nice break for the Lakers, but they're jumping into the fire tomorrow for the first end of a back-to-back. As Lakers Blog's Mark Medina and various members of the team remind us, two games in 48 hours is hardly unexplored territory.
-To put things in metaphorical terms of a vehicular nature, it's all about the cars ahead of you, not the ones in the rear view mirror.
-Dime Magazine has a profile of Kobe, along with a short interview. (Tip of the cap to Silver Screen And Roll.)
-Mike Trudell of BasketBlog at has some purple and gold "leader" stats for you.'s Dave McMenamin talks with Lamar Odom about Olympic success past and future.

-It's assumed Big Z will get a buyout from the Wizards and eventually rejoin the Cavs, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Brian Windhorst predicts a sweepstakes of sorts for the seven-footer's services. The wooing period may begin rather soon.
-George Karl is getting plenty of support from Nuggets fans as he wages his latest battle with cancer.
-It'll take more than a spectacularly bad season to dissuade Rudy Gay from considering a bid from New Jersey.
-Getting dealt threw Carl Landry for a loop.
-In the latest "will he, won't he?" involving Carlos Boozer and the Jazz, C.B. says he will... theoretically.
-Ben Wallace is no fan of "Hack-a-Ben." Or even questions abut "Hack-a-Ben."
-It's official: Marquis Daniels has money to fritter away on indulgent items. (Tip of the cap to True Hoop.)

And finally...

Butler, Shmutler. Haywood, Shmaywood. Here's the real key to Dallas' potential push.  VON WAFER IS BACK, BABY!!!
