Ron Artest to miss tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns

By Andy Kamenetzky

It's being reported by two of the local outlets that Ron Artest, after a concussion sustained by falling down the stairs, hasn't been cleared to play in tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns. While his condition has improved, there hasn't been enough progress to throw on a uni.

So who will start in Ron Ron's place? Well, as the O.C. Register's Kevin Ding reminds us, Phil Jackson was anything but complimentary of the "triple towers" as a starting unit against the Kings, which doesn't provide a huge vote of confidence for Lamar Odom getting another nod. The Press-Enterprise's Jeffrey Eisenberg concurs, predicting Shannon Brown's strong performance against Sacto will bump him from reserve to temporary starter. I also expect that to be the case (and would likely make the same move), unless Phil Jackson decides to go with Sasha Vujacic to better match Phoenix shooting guard Jason Richardson's height and leave the typical rotation as intact as possible. In any event, someone out of the ordinary will be announced among the first five.

Thoughts on the matter?
