After losing twice in nonleague matches to its Sunset League rival, Newport Harbor – ranked seventh in Division I-AA – defeated third-ranked Los Alamitos when it counted, 25-22, 15-25, 13-24, 25-23, 15-9, behind the play of Brown. The outside hitter's 14 kills helped overcome the loss of Alex Holbrook, who was injured late in Game 2, as the Sailors overcame a 19-13 deficit to win Game 4.

Scored five goals, including the game-winner with nine seconds remaining in the first overtime period -- to give the Griffins (12-4) a 10-9 victory over Newport Harbor (12-2) in the finals of the S&R Sport Water Polo Cup at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. The performance, which included a game-tying goal with three seconds left in regulation, capped a comeback from a 7-4 deficit in the fourth quarter. They meet in a Sunset League game on Oct. 20.
