LA South: Boys' basketball top 10

1. (1) Long Beach Poly, (18-0) – Jackrabbits go for the trifecta against their biggest threat in the Moore League. Next up: vs. Compton, Wednesday; vs. Lakewood, Monday.

2. (2) Westchester, (18-5) – The next week offer an opportunity to pull away in the Western League. Next up: vs. Hamilton, Wednesday; vs. Fairfax, Thursday; at University, Monday.

3. (3) Los Angeles Price, (15-5) – Dunks galore for bigs Norvel Pelle and Skylar Spencer resulting in a big win against fellow small school at CA Elite Showcase. Next up: vs. Alemany at Fairfax State Preview Classic, Saturday.

4. (9) Peninsula, (19-1) – Make that 17 straight for the Bay League leaders, whose only loss came to Westchester back in early December. Next up: vs. Torrance West, Tuesday; at Redondo Union, Friday.

5. (4) La Verne Lutheran, (11-4) – Excellent guard play from Bruce English not enough against L.A. Price, but this team has plenty of potential come playoff time. Next up: at Anza Hamilton, Tuesday; vs. Sherman Indian, Thursday.

6. (5) Compton, (13-8) – More was expected from this bunch, but chance to get back on track is here. Next up: at Long Beach Poly, Wednesday; at Long Beach Wilson, Friday.

7. (6) Damien, (18-2) – Coming up short against undefeated Mission Viejo is a downer, though the Spartans are in great shape. Next up: vs. Claremont, Wednesday; vs. South Hills, Friday.

8. (7) Fairfax, (12-6) – The Lions were embarrassed at home two weeks ago, look to return the favor this week. Next up: at Westchester, Thursday; vs. Gardena Serra, Saturday.

9. (8) St. John Bosco, (17-5) – Injury to star guard Cezar Guerrero adds another obstacle for up-and-down Braves. Next up: at Mater Dei, Wednesday; at Servite, Friday.

10. (10) Inglewood, (15-5) – Things are looking good in the polls and standings. Next up: at Morningside, Wednesday; at Santa Monica, Friday.
