Foothill League: The Valencia baseball team, ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division I poll, is in a bit of a funk. The Vikings have gone 2-2 in their past four games, both losses coming against Foothill League rivals.

Valencia lost to Hart, 1-0, on April 13. Six days later, Valencia lost to West Ranch, 2-0.

Hart, meanwhile, hasn't done much better. The No. 6 team in the CIF Southern Section Division I rankings is 3-2 over its last five games. After beating Valencia, Hart lost to the Vikings, 5-2, two days later.

Hart rebounded Wednesday with a 2-1 win over Saugus, scoring both runs in the seventh inning.

After eight games of Foothill League play, Valencia and Hart are tied with 6-2 records. West Ranch is in third, a game behind at 5-3.

Marmonte League: Simi Valley and Westlake are tied for 10th in the CIF Southern Section Division I poll. Simi Valley has a six-game winning streak, four of those wins coming against Marmonte League teams. Simi Valley beat Westlake, 4-1, on April 8 and is coming off a 12-2 win over Agoura on April 15.

Westlake is 2-2 in its last four games. The Warriors have won two in a row, however, most recently, 9-4, over Calabasas on April 15. Westlake is playing in the Mesa Citrus Classic in Arizona this weekend.
