Mater Dei, Laguna Beach are No. 1 as SoCal Regional volleyball field set

Mater Dei, fresh off its five-game upset of second-seeded Santa Margarita in the Southern Section Division 1 boys' volleyball championship, was named the top-seeded team in the Southern California Regionals announced Sunday by the California Interscholastic Federation.

Mater was made the No. 1 team in Division 2, followed in order by Corona del Mar, Santa Margarita and San Diego Cathedral Catholic.

Laguna Beach, which was beaten in the Southern Section Division 2 finals by Corona del Mar, was tabbed the No. 1 seeded team in State Division 3. The top-seeded team in State Division 1 was Clovis Buchanan from the Central Section.
