Football: City Section Div. I seedings

By Blair Angulo

To no surprise, Marine League champion San Pedro (10-0) on Saturday received the top seeding for the CIF Los Angeles City Section Division I football playoffs. Marine League runner-up Narbonne (7-3) is seeded No. 2, Coliseum League champion Dorsey (9-1) is No. 3 and Western League winner Venice (6-4) is No. 4.

First-round play begins Friday -- either at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. -- at the higher seeded team's field. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Nov. 25, the semifinals for Dec. 2 and the championship for Dec. 10 at East Los Angeles College.

San Pedro's toughest regular-season test came on Nov. 4 against Narbonne, a game the Pirates won 49-42. Carson (5-5), a team San Pedro beat 21-0, is seeded No. 5. The Pirates could face two-time defending City Section champion Crenshaw in the second round. The Cougars finished third in the Coliseum League and are seeded No. 8.

Here's the entire Division I bracket:

No. 16 Gardena (3-7) at No. 1 San Pedro (10-0)
