LA North: Coin flips and forfeits
Oaks Christian won a coin flip on Tuesday and will be the No. 1 seed in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division playoffs if there is a three-way tie for first place in the Marmonte League after the season finales on Friday night.
Oaks Christian, Westlake and St. Bonaveture each have 7-1 league records. Oaks Christian plays Agoura, Westlake plays Calabasas and St. Bonaventure plays Royal. All three first-place teams are expected to win. If they all finish in a tie for first place, Oaks Christian gets the top seed in the playoffs.
St. Bonaventure will get the No. 2 seed. Westlake and Valencia will probably get the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds. Which team will get which seed is in question.
Westlake has one loss, an double overtime, one-point loss to St. Bonaventure last week. Valencia has one loss, a 39-24 loss to Loyola on Oct. 8.
Meanwhile in the City Section, Panorama was forced to forfeit three games for using an ineligible player earlier in the season.
According to a report in the Daily News, Emilio Rodriguez, a transfer from San Fernando High School, played in three games before he was officially cleared to participate with his new team.
As a result, Panorama had to forfeit wins against South Gate, Chatsworth and Arleta.
Panorama's record went from 8-1 to 5-4. But Panorama still has a 5-0 league record and will play undefeated Reseda for the Valley Mission League championship on Friday night.
