LA North: CIF Southern Section girls' basketball playoffs
By Tim Haddock
The Harvard-Westlake girls basketball team earned the top seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 2A playoff and will play Moorpark in the first round on Thursday night.
Harvard-Westlake (20-8) won the CIF Division 4 state championship last year, beating St. Mary’s, 58-44, in the title game in Bakersfield.
The Wolverines have an eight-game winning streak and lost only one game in Mission League play. That came against Chaminade, 51-46, on Jan. 11. Chaminade and Harvard-Westlake each finished with 9-1 records and tied for first place in the Mission League standings.
Chaminade (23-3) is the third seed in the Division 4AA playoffs and has a bye in the first round.
The Oaks Christian girls are the No. 1 seed in the Division 4A playoffs and will play Morningside in the first round.
Oaks Christian (20-7) won four its last five games of the season and finished in second place with a 10-2 record in the Tri-Valley League.
