LA North: Ventura's Jon McMurry hits three 3-pointers in second half of CIF playoff game

VENTURA -- Ventura's Jon McMurry scored all nine of his points on 3-pointers in the second half in his team's 69-48 playoff win over West Ranch on Wednesday night.
Ventura (25-2) is the top-seeded team in the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs. After a slow start against West Ranch, Ventura blew open the game in the second quarter.
West Ranch held a one-point lead, 17-16, after the first quarter. David Harris sank three 3-pointers in the first quarter for West Ranch. He finished with a team-high 16 points.
But Ventura outscored West Ranch, 20-4, in the second quarter. Dylan Houck scored nine points and Nick Rudolph added five off the bench as Ventura started pulling away in the second quarter. Ventura led 36-21 at halftime.
McMurry knocked down one of four 3-pointers for Ventura in the third quarter as the Cougars extended their lead to 19 points, 53-34. McMurry made two more 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Houck led Ventura with 26 points. McMurry was second on the team in scoring with nine points.
Ventura plays Ocean View in the second round of the playoffs on Friday night.
