Sammy Cordova, Edison, Soph.
Not only did the right-handed pitcher do it all in a 7-0 victory over Fountain Valley—she pitched the shutout, had two home runs and six RBIs—but she pitched the last 10 innings (and struck out 15) of the Chargers’ 13-inning, 4-3 victory over Marina. Edison (22-3, 5-1) remained a game behind Los Alamitos (21-2-1, 6-0) in the Sunset League; they play each other on May 10.

Gage Brymer, University, Soph.
Ranked No. 6 in the nation in 16 and under, Brymer continued to roll this season. The sophomore won the 111th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Johnny Wang of San Marino after beating Anaheim Canyon’s Dennis Nguyen in the semifinals. University won the event for the second year in a row. Brymer had already won the Easter Bowl tournament in Palm Springs this season.
