WEST HILLS -- No one is perfect.

Logan Scott, however, was about as close as it gets Friday night.

The senior quarterback completed 16-of-19 for 220 yards and tossed three touchdown passes in the first half for Chaminade. On the ground, Scott rushed for 57 yards in eight carries. His well-rounded effort was more than enough to guide the Eagles to a rather impressive 31-6 victory over visiting Santa Fe Springs St. Paul in a Mission League opener for both schools.

With the victory over the Swordsmen (5-1, 0-1), Chaminade (5-1, 1-0) proved itself worthy of a No. 23 spot in the ESPNLosAngeles.com rankings. This was also a matchup of the top two teams in this week's CIF-Southern Section Western Division poll.

Scott started the second half similar to the way he ended things in the first: Throwing the ball well. He completed four passes for 39 yards on the Eagles first possession of the third quarter. Terrell Newby scored on a one-yard run to give extend the lead, 28-6, at 9:24.

Ben Krientenburg, a freshman kicker for Chaminade, booted a 30-yard field goal with 10:23 remaining in the fourth quarter for the game's final magin.

With less than three minutes left in the first half, Chaminade effectively used its hurry-up offense. Scott had a 38-yard pass go off Kevin Lewallyn's fingertips. No matter, Elijah Dunston caught a 26-yard pass from Scott to give the Eagles a 21-6 lead at the break.
