The Cabrillo and Lompoc football teams are familiar foes. Lompoc is the reigning CIF-Southern Section Northwest Division champion and Los Padres League champion.

Cabrillo, which is located in the city of Lompoc, finished second to Lompoc in the Los Padres League, its only loss in league play coming against Lompoc on the last game of the season.

Lompoc beat Cabrillo, 47-7, in the Los Padres League finale. It was only the second loss of the season for Cabrillo (11-2) and snapped a five-game winning streak. Lompoc (14-0) capped an undefeated league season and secured the No. 1 seeding in the Northwest Division playoffs.

The two teams meet again in the Northwest Division championship game on Friday night at Lompoc High School.

Lompoc running back Lavon Coleman rushed for 176 yards and scored three touchdowns in the first meeting between the two teams. He also returned a punt for a touchdown against Cabrillo.

Coleman leads Lompoc in rushing with 1,688 yards and touchdowns with 23. Taylor Cornejo has complemented Coleman well in the backfield with 872 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns this season.
