The middle blocker had a team-high 13 kills in the State Division II final against Mountain View St. Francis, a 22-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 winner. Barrett earlier had a personal best 34 kills in the stunning five-game victory over top-seeded St. Lucy's in the Regional final that sent Troy (35-3) to its first state championship match. Seeded seventh, Troy beat the top three seeded teams in the regional before losing to St. Francis, which won a record ninth state title.

The 189-pound wrestler won the championship at the El Dorado Invitational, and did so in impressive fashion. After winning his first three matches by fall, he outscored Devin Rhodes of Ramona, 15-3, for the title. He was one of only two OC wrestlers to finish first in his weight class; the other was heavyweight Carl Hulick of Esperanza.
