LA North: High school playoffs update

Saugus senior Andrew Moore shot the round of his high school career in the CIF Southern Section Northern Team Regional at Soule Park Golf Club in Ojai on Monday.

He was 1-under par, 71, to lead Saugus to the Northern Regional championship. Saugus came in as the third-place team from the Foothill League. The Centurions did not win a single league match.

Moore was one of four Saugus golfers who shot sub-80 rounds. Kevin Holzer shot 76, Connor Morris shot 77 and Tyler Larinto shot 79.

Saugus shot 383 as a team and won the Northern Regional by nine strokes over West Ranch, the Foothill League champions. Westlake was third at 393. The top three teams advance to the Southern Section Team Championship at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs on Thursday.

In other regional finals, Righetti won the Central Coast championship. Dos Pueblos was second, followed by Ventura in third.

Sunny Hills from Fullerton won the Western Division championship. Loyola was second and Diamond Bar was third.

Tennis: Top-seeded Palisades beat North Hollywood, 29 ½ to 0, in the quarterfinals of the CIF City Section Division 1 boys tennis playoffs. Second-seeded Eagle Rock beat Cleveland of Reseda, 26 to 3 ½.

No. 3 Granada Hills beat Woodland Hills Taft, 19 to 10 ½. No. 4 El Camino Real beat Van Nuys, 23 ½ to 6.

Palisades hosts El Camino and Eagle Rock is home against Granada Hills in the semifinals today.

In Division 2, top-seeded Sun Valley Poly plays No. 4 Granada Hills Kennedy and second-seeded Los Angeles Hamilton plays No. 3 Los Angeles CES in the semifinals today.

Softball: El Camino Real earned the top seed in the CIF City Section softball playoffs and will play Bell in the first round on Thursday.

Carson is the No. 2 seed and plays Cleveland of Reseda in the first round. Los Angeles Marshall is the third seed and opens against Grant. San Pedro is the fourth seed and plays Chatsworth in the first round.
