Salvador Preciado, a football player at Panorama High School, was found dead in an apartment on Saturday morning in what police are calling an alcohol-related case.
Los Angeles Police Department detectives are investigating Preciado's death. One of the detectives told the Daily News that Preciado died as a result of alcohol intoxication after he passed out after a party.
Detectives do not believe foul play was involved in Preciado's death, according to a news release by the Los Angeles Police Department. The coroner's department is conducting an investigation into the exact cause of death and toxicology reports are not expected to be completed for eight to 12 weeks.
LAPD investigators said Preciado was at a party on Friday night with friends. The investigators said Preciado drank a variety of alcoholic beverages at the party and passed out. A friend drove Preciado to another friend's apartment, where they called Preciado's mother to tell her of her son's condition, according to the police report.
Preciado's mother picked up her son the next morning around 8:45. Preciado was unresponsive and paramedics were called, according to the police report.
The 17-year-old Preciado was a senior offensive lineman on the Panorama football team. He was 6-feet-6 inches tall and weighed 290 pounds according to the roster on MaxPreps.com.
He also was on the wrestling team and track team at Panorama High School.
