Los Angeles Preps: Travis Pitcher

The final 20 rounds of the Major League Baseball draft on Wednesday concluded with a pitcher from Cypress College being selected in the final round.

The right-hander is Travis Pitcher, who was chosen No. 1,516 overall by Oakland. Only 14 players were selected after him. Pitcher appeared in 14 games in 2011, six as a starter, and finished with a 1-3 record and 5.45 earned-run average. He struck out 37 batters in 36 1/3 innings; he walked 25 in addition to surrendering 40 hits. He played high school at El Dorado.

The late rounds also included the son of Angels manager Mike Scioscia being selected -- by the Angels. Notre Dame catcher Matt Scioscia (6-2, 220, R/R) was taken in the 45th round; the younger Scioscia attended high school at Crespi.

Here's a look at players selected from Orange County schools in the last day of the three-day event covering rounds 31-50.
