Juan Pablo Angel's struggles are definitely in the past. The tall Colombian forward scored two more goals Saturday night as Chivas USA kept its slim postseason hopes going with a 3-0 rout of Toronto FC at Home Depot Center.
Angel scored in the 12th and 77th minutes and Justin Braun tallied in the tallied in the 71st as the Goats (8-12-11) halted a seven-game winless streak and climbed within five points of the final playoff spot.
With just three games to go -- against Philadelphia, the Galaxy and Seattle -- climbing into the top 10 would take a miracle, but Chivas remains mathematically alive. So does Toronto (6-13-12), but just barely.
Toronto has never beaten Chivas at HDC -- the Reds have been outscored, 12-1, over five games -- but they had no chance with Angel on target. He has back-to-back two-goal games and has scored five times in the last three -- giving him six in six games for the Goats and nine for the season.
He scored just three in 22 league appearances for the Galaxy before moving down the hall so L.A. could sign Irish forward Robbie Keane.
