ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP
Leeds United at Doncaster Rovers
Fox Soccer Plus, 11:40 a.m.

Ross McCormack has eight goals in nine games for Leeds United. Or two more than the Rovers, all of them, have netted in 10 matches. Replay, 6 p.m.

MEXICAN PRIMERA DIVISION
UANL Tigres at Morelia
Azteca America (KAZA/Channel 54) and Fox Deportes, 6:10 p.m.
The Tigres are atop the Apertura standings after last weekend's rout of previous leader Pumas UNAM. Morelia expected to be in the fight, too, but injuries and indifferent form -- and that shootout in Torreon -- have them sitting 14th, seven points off the lead and three outside a playoff berth.

COLLEGE WOMEN
Stanford at Arizona State
Fox Soccer Channel, 7 p.m.
The No. 1 Cardinal ought to cruise to the Pacific 12 Conference title after routing UCLA last weekend. This one shouldn't be close.
College men
New Hampshire at UMBC, Fox Soccer Channel, 4 p.m. and midnight

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Houston Dynamo at Portland Timbers
MLS Direct Kick, 7:30 p.m.
The Dynamo are 10th in MLS's overall standings, the Timbers are 11th, just three points back, and only the top 10 make the playoffs.

  • ON LOCAL FIELDS
COLLEGE MEN
Santa Clara at Loyola Marymount
Sullivan Field (Westchester), 3 p.m.

The Lions' miserable seven-game stretch ended with a victory last weekend at last-place Portland, and the West Coast Conference is tight enough that another couple of wins could put them in the race. If somebody can slow down San Francisco, that is.

Cal State San Marcos at Soka (Aliso Viejo), 7 p.m.

Matador Soccer Field (Northridge), 7 p.m.
The 49ers have won six in a row, are 3-0-0 in Big West play and have climbed to 22nd in the Division I poll. The Matadors are among Long Beach's top pursuers, at 2-1-1 in conference action.

Replay: ESPN Deportes, 11 a.m.

Scudetto-holder Milan hasn't started well, with just one victory in its first five games. Nobody really believes the funk will last. Palermo is just a point off the Serie A lead.
