ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
West Bromwich Albion at Manchester United
Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Deportes, 7 a.m.

This won't go down among Man U's more memorable seasons, especially in Europe, but the Red Devils sit just two points off archrival Man City's lead and are 6-0-1 in EPL play since that loss at Newcastle at the start of January. Replay: FSC, 8 p.m.
Also
Manchester City at Swansea City, Fox Soccer Plus, 7 a.m.; Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Deportes, 3 p.m.

MEXICAN PRIMERA DIVISION
Estudiantes Tecos at Pumas UNAM
Univision (KMEX/Channel 34), 10 a.m.
This is sort of Tecos' farewell tour. Barring a miracle, the Owls are headed down to the Liga de Ascenso at season's end. Pumas, well off its championship form of a year ago, just hope to make the playoffs.
Brazilian Campeonato Paulista
Palmeiras at Botafogo, ESPN Deportes, 11:55 a.m.

Independiente at Boca Juniors, GolTV, 3:30 and 9 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
New York Red Bulls at FC Dallas
NBC Sports Network, noon
Thierry Henry
is back for the Red Bulls as the new season begins, but not yet Rafa Marquez, who has a suspension to serve for throwing the ball at Landon Donovan in the playoff opener. FC Dallas' David Ferreira won't play after picking up an Achilles injury.
Also
Houston Dynamo at Chivas USA, Prime Ticket and Galavision, 4 p.m.
  • ON LOCAL FIELDS
MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Houston Dynamo at Chivas USA
Home Depot Center (Carson), 4 p.m.

The Goats did not have a good preseason, and although that means nothing here, in their league opener, there seem more questions than answers to start Robin Fraser's second campaign. The last time the Dynamo were in the house, MLS's big trophy was up for grabs. They didn't win it.
TV: Prime Ticket and Galavision

MONDAY, MARCH 12
  • TELEVISION
ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
Newcastle United at Arsenal
ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, 12:55 p.m.

Talk around north London centers on whether an agreement to nab German forward Lukas Podolski from Cologne -- and whether he's stepping in because Robin van Persie is exiting -- has been finalized. And the Gunners' amazing almost-comeback from a four-goal deficit in last week's Champions League clash with AC Milan.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Philadelphia Union at Portland Timbers
ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, 6:30 p.m.
Portland has perhaps MLS's most rabid fan base, and it will be out in force for the rising Timbers' league opener against Philly's youngsters.
