TELEVISION

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP
Blackpool vs. West Ham United
Fox Soccer Channel, 7 a.m.

There's one open slot in the English Premier League next season. The winner of this one, at Wembley, fills it. The loser sticks around the second-tier Championship another year. Replay: Fox Soccer Plus, 6 p.m.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Chelsea (England) at Bayern Munich (Germany)
Fox (KTTV/Channel 11) and Fox Deportes, 11:30 a.m.
The biggest club game of the year, anywhere, pits a Bayern club filled with stars (Ribery, Gomez, Robben, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Müller) and playing in its home stadium against Chelsea's over(or is it under)achievers (led by Drogba, Lampard, Torres, Terry, Cech). Replays: Fox Soccer Channel, 5 p.m. and midnight.
Charity game
Bayern Munich All-Stars vs. World All-Stars, Fox Soccer Channel, 2:30 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Seattle Sounders at Vancouver Whitecaps
MLS Direct Kick, 2 p.m.
The best rivalry in MLS -- sorry, Galaxy and Chivas -- belongs to the Cascadia clubs in the Pacific Northwest. Here are two of them, but note there's not nearly as much nastiness here as when the Sounders play Portland.
Also
New York Red Bulls at Montreal Impact, MLS Direct Kick, 4:30 p.m.
Toronto FC at D.C. United, MLS Direct Kick, 4:30 p.m.
Houston Dynamo at New England Revolution, MLS Direct Kick, 4:30 p.m.
Philadelphia Union at FC Dallas, MLS Direct Kick, 5:30 p.m.
Sporting Kansas City at Colorado Rapids, MLS Direct Kick, 6 p.m.
Columbus Crew at San Jose Earthquakes, MLS Direct Kick, 7:30 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Galaxy at Chivas USA
ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, 7:30 p.m.
Landon Donovan
and Robbie Keane play their final Galaxy games for awhile, with international duty beckoning. Juan Agudelo and Danny Califf play their first for the Goats, after Thursday's big trades. MLS's only true derby.
Brazilian Campeonato Paulista
Flamengo at Sport Recife, GolTV, 2:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Argentine Primera B Nacional
Guillermo Brown at River Plate, GolTV, 4:30 p.m. and midnight
  • ON LOCAL FIELDS
BEACH SOCCER
Copa Cobana Tournament
Beach at Belmont Shore (Long Beach), 9 a.m.

The tour makes its first of two stops in Long Beach, with the usual youth divisions, some adult divisions -- plus, best of all, men's open play. Games will go on until about 5 p.m., with more on Sunday.
Also
Surf City Sand Soccer, Huntington City Beach (Huntington Beach), 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

NATIONAL PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE
Sonoma County Sol at Fullerton Rangers
Santa Ana Stadium, 5:30 p.m.
The Rangers look to bounce back from Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup loss with a clash against what might be Northern California's top side, guided by former UCLA women's assistant coach (and former University of San Francisco head coach) Mark Carr.
Also
Real San Jose at FC Santa Clarita Storm, Canyon High School (Canyon Country), 6 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Galaxy at Chivas USA
Home Depot Center (Carson), 7:30 p.m.
The SuperClasico remains a highlight on the calendar, even when the clubs are a combined 6-11-3.
TV: ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.

SUNDAY, MAY 20
  • TELEVISION
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Chelsea (England) at Bayern Munich (Germany)
Fox Soccer Channel, 9 a.m.

If you missed Saturday's title game, there are five showings -- but only two with English commentary. Replays: Fox Deportes, 8 and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.; Fox Soccer Plus, 2 p.m.

FRENCH LIGUE 1
Montpellier at Auxerre
Fox Soccer Plus, 11:55 a.m.
Montpellier needs just a draw to claim its first Ligue 1 title, but defeat would give Paris Saint-Germain the tools to swoop in for the trophy. Last-place Auxerre is heading to the second division after 32 years in the top flight.
Also
Paris Saint-Germain at Lorient, TV5Monde, 11:55 p.m.; Fox Soccer Channel, noon

ITALIAN COPPA ITALIA
Juventus vs. Napoli
GolTV, noon
Alessandro Del Piero
has one last game left for Serie A champion Juve, in the cup final at Rome's Stadio Olimpico. Replay: 8 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Chicago Fire at Portland Timbers
Galavision, 4 p.m.
The Timbers have lost six of their last eight, and two of them were at Jeld-Wen, one of the toughest places to play in MLS. The dynamic Fire have lost just once in their last six, and that to Seattle.

MEXICAN PRIMERA DIVISION
Monterrey at Santos Laguna
Telefutura (KFTR/Channel 46), 5:50 p.m.
Humberto Suazo
's stoppage-time penalty kick prevented Santos from exiting Monterrey with a victory, but an away tie gives the Guerreros the advantage heading into the final 90 minutes of the Mexican season. The winner claims the Clausura title.
Argentine Primera Division
Boca Juniors at Racing Club, GolTV, 3:15 p.m. and 10 a.m.
Uruguayan Liga Profesional de Primera Division
Nacional at Peņarol, GolTV, 5:15 p.m.

USL PREMIER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

Ventura College, 3 p.m.
The Fusion started off the weekend with a win over Ogden, to follow Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup victory over the Fullerton Rangers. In two days, they've got another Open Cup clash, against the L.A. Blues, but first the Blues' second team pays a visit.
Also
Ogden Outlaws at Orange County Blue Star, Concordia University (Irvine), 5 p.m.

USL W-LEAGUE
Pali Blues at Santa Clarita Blue Heat
Valencia High School, 5 p.m.
A showdown of Western Conference powers, with a loaded Pali side looking to knock off last year's conference regular-season winner -- another step, perhaps, toward a third W-League crown?
