2012 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Sweden vs. England
ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, 11:30 a.m.

England did little more than get a result in its Group D opener, a 1-1 draw with France, but that's the strength of Roy Hodgson's approach with this bunch. They'll need more grit to get past the Swedes, who are in must-win mode after letting a lead disappear against Ukraine.
Also
Ukraine vs. France, ESPN and ESPN Deportes, 8:45 a.m.
2014 World Cup qualifying
Honduras at Canada, ESPN Deportes, 6:30 a.m.
Copa Libertadores Sub-20
America (Mexico) at Union Española (Chile), Fox Deportes, 2 p.m.
Defensor Sporting (Uruguay) at Independence (Ecuador), Fox Deportes, 4 p.m.
Real Espport (Venezuela) at Universitario (Peru), Fox Deportes, 11 p.m.

  • ON LOCAL FIELDS

USL PRO
Dayton Dutch Lions at L.A. Blues
Titan Stadium, Cal State Fullerton, 7:30 p.m.

The Blues have been off since May 26, which has given them some time to get healthy and integrate Maykel Galindo into the side. Dayton offers an interesting challenge: The Lions are winless in 10 league games but have won all three of their U.S. Open Cup games, beating MLS's Columbus Crew, to reach the quarterfinals. Another meeting on Sunday.

SATURDAY, JUNE 16

  • TELEVISION

2012 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Czech Republic at Poland
ESPN and ESPN Deportes, 11:30 a.m.

All four teams remain alive heading into the Group A finales, but only one of these Central European neighbors can push through to the final eight. And if this finishes in a tie and Greece upsets Russia, it's possible neither moves on.
Also
Greece vs. Russia, ESPN2, 11:30 a.m.; ESPN Deportes, 2 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
FC Dallas at Houston Dynamo
ESPN2, 4:30 p.m.
It's the only battle of Texas in MLS this year, unless both teams make it to the final, and that doesn't look likely, at least for Dallas. El Capitan, a 19th century replica cannon, goes to the victor. Replay: ESPN Deportes, 6 p.m.
Also
Colorado Rapids at Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS Direct Kick, 4 p.m.
D.C. United at Philadelphia Union, Univision Deportes, 4 p.m.
Seattle Sounders at Montreal Impact, MLS Direct Kick, 4:30 p.m.
Columbus Crew at New England Revolution, MLS Direct Kick, 4:30 p.m.
Toronto FC at Sporting Kansas City, MLS Direct Kick, 5:30 p.m.
Real Salt Lake at Chivas USA, Prime Ticket and KWHY/Channel 22, 7:30 p.m.

URUGUAYAN LIGA PROFESIONAL DE PRIMERA DIVISION
Defensor Sporting at Nacional
GolTV, 4:30 p.m.
Uruguay's top clubs battle, possibly for the title. They're calling it a semifinal, but Nacional will claim its second successive championship with a victory.
Argentine Primera B Nacional
River Plate at Patronato, GolTV, 11 a.m., 6:30 p.m. and midnight
Brazilian Brasileirão
Botafogo at Internacional, GolTV, 2:30 p.m.

CHARITY MATCH
Messi All-Stars vs. Mexico All-Stars
Fox Soccer Channel, 5 p.m.
Argentina/Barcelona genius Lionel Messi and a host of big names -- Giovani Dos Santos, Robinho and Javier Mascherano are on the list -- have a kick in the Copa Mundo Maya in Cancún. Replay: 8 p.m.
Copa Libertadores Sub-20
Sporting Cristal (Peru) vs. Cerro Porteño (Paraguay), Fox Deportes, noon
Boca Juniors (Argentina) vs. America Mineiro (Brazil), Fox Deportes, 2 p.m.
Alianza Lima (Peru) vs. Blooming (Bolivia), Fox Deportes, 11 p.m.

  • ON LOCAL FIELDS

USL PREMIER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
FC Tucson at Ventura County Fusion
Ventura College, 7 p.m.

The streaking Fusion and first-year Arizonans battle for the Southwest Division lead. Both are 6-1-1 -- no other team in the division has more than three wins -- and the Fusion are counting on a potent attack (led by Travis Bowen and Rodrigo Lopez) and a defense bolstered by UCLA's Earl Edwards in the nets.
Women's Premier Soccer League
Beach FC at Ajax America, Nansen Field (Rolling Hills Estates), 3:30 p.m.
National Premier Soccer League
Fullerton Rangers at FC Hasental, Rancho Santa Susana Community Park (Simi Valley), 5 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Real Salt Lake at Chivas USA
Home Depot Center (Carson), 7:30 p.m.
The Goats posted a win and three ties against four of the best teams in MLS before the three-week break, and they take on perhaps the best of the bunch. RSL is atop the Supporters' Shield standings, could have Javier Morales back from injury, and will be looking to settle things after falling to Chivas in Utah back in March.
TV: Prime Ticket (English) and KWHY/Channel 22 (Spanish).
