Forbes issued its annual list of the richest Americans, and right there at No. 34 -- a ways down from No. 1 Bill Gates ($54 billion) and No. 2 Warren Buffett ($45 billion), and even behind fellow Major League Soccer club owner Paul Allen (Seattle Sounders, No. 17 at $17.2 billion) -- is Phil Anschutz, whose empire includes the Galaxy.
Anschutz's wealth is estimated to be $7 billion by the finance magazine.
AEG, which operates Anschutz's holdings, owns the Galaxy and half of the Houston Dynamo, in addition to the L.A. Kings, a stake in the Lakers and more than 120 facilities around the world, including the Home Depot Center and Staples Center.
Anschutz, 70, who resides in Denver, is ranked 123rd on Forbes' list of world billionaires.
Anne Walton Kroenke, an heir to the Walmart fortune and the wife of Colorado Rapids owner (and minority owner of Arsenal FC) Stanley Koenke, is 98th on the list at $3.2 billion.
