MONDAY, NOV. 8
SPANISH LA LIGA
Valencia at Sevilla
ESPN Deportes, 12:25 p.m.
Valencia has already lost twice and Sevilla three times, so they're probably out of the running for the Primera Liga title before they've played 10 games. That's how it works when Real Madrid and Barcelona are running 1-2. UEFA Champions League berths are still up for grabs, and both clubs are in the race.
NCAA Division I Selection Show
ESPNU, 1:30 p.m.
Expectations are that four local schools will be in the 64-team field. The only definite is Long Beach State, but if UC Irvine, USC and UCLA aren't there, the NCAA's got some 'splaining to do.
WOMEN'S WORLD CUP QUALIFYING
United States vs. Costa Rica
ESPN2, 3 p.m.
If the Ticas pull off the greatest upset in women's soccer history -- overtaking Mexico's stunner over the U.S. in Friday's CONCACAF semifinal -- the Americans will not be going to Germany next summer. We expect they will, although they'll have to get past Italy after winning this one to do so.
TUESDAY, NOV. 9
ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
Sunderland at Tottenham
Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Deportes, noon
Tottenham's Gareth Bale has become one of the hottest names in world football, but the London club's recent domestic form -- three games without a win, the last two of them losses, slipping to seventh in the EPL standings -- make this clash with eighth-place Black Cats must-win. Replay: Fox Deportes, 7 p.m.
Birmingham City at Stoke City, ESPN Deportes, 11:30 a.m.
