UCLA junior Sydney Leroux will be looking for her first cap with the U.S. women's national team at China's Four Nations tournament, an annual showcase of women's international soccer.
Leroux, a forward who didn't play following her first two camps with the U.S. women, is among a half-dozen players from L.A. and its environs, including all four forwards.
Alex Morgan (Diamond Bar/Diamond Bar HS), the first selection in Friday's Women's Professional Soccer draft, Amy Rodriguez (Lake Forest/Santa Margarita Catholic HS and USC) and Lauren Cheney (UCLA) also are available up top. The 23-player roster includes midfielders Shannon Boxx (Redondo Beach/South Torrance HS) and Lindsay Tarpley (Hermosa Beach). Forward Abby Wambach (Hermosa Beach) is sidelined because of a heel injury.
The Americans open the Four Nations next Thursday night against Sweden, their third group-stage foe at next summer's Women's World Cup.
