WPS: No games here
Women's Professional Soccer unveiled the schedule for its third season Thursday, and none of the games are in California. The nation's only fully professional women's soccer league is exclusively East Coast in 2011, with six franchises stretching from Buffalo to Atlanta.
Too bad: California teams were best the first two seasons, with the L.A. Sol winning the regular-season title in 2009 and the Bay Area's FC Gold Pride dominating the league en route to last year's title. The Sol disbanded in January 2010, and Gold Pride folded last November.
The season will end earlier this year, with the regular season wrapping up Aug. 14 and the champion crowned before September -- better for players with college-coaching jobs or to play in Europe -- and there will be a two-week break for the group stage of the FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany, with no games June 25-July 4.
