MLS: Chicago Fire waives Upland's Paul

The Chicago Fire has parted ways with rookie forward Davis Paul, a Damien High School product the club selected in the third round of January's Major League Soccer draft. The Fire announced Wednesday that the former Cal star from Upland had been waived.

Paul made just two competitive appearances for the Fire, playing the first half in an April 17 league loss to the Galaxy in Bridgeview, Ill., and going the full 90 in a U.S. Open Cup qualifying victory May 30 over Colorado in Peoria, Ill.

“We want to thank Davis for his contributions to the Chicago Fire and wish him the best of luck in his next venture,” Fire technical director and interim head coach Frank Klopas said in a statement.
