COPA AMERICA

Bolivia vs. Costa Rica

TeleFutura (KFTR/Channel 46), 3 p.m.

The Bolivians scored a woeful goal but backed it up with defense to tie host Argentina in their opener at South America's nations championship. A victory over the Ticos would all but assure them a quarterfinal berth.

FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP

Germany at Mexico

ESPNU and Galavision, 4 p.m.

Bayer Leverkusen's Samed Yesil has scored five of Germany's 18 goals in six victories at FIFA's youngest World Cup. A semifinal victory over the host Tri won't come easy: The Mexicans, looking for their second championship in four U-17 Cups, also are 6-0-0.

Also

Uruguay vs. Brazil, ESPNU and Galavision, 1 p.m.

FRIDAY, JULY 8

  • TELEVISION

USL PRO

Charlotte Eagles at Richmond Kickers

Fox Soccer Channel, 5 p.m.

One of American minor-league soccer's best rivalries pits teams that have featured in the past six title games in the USL Pro's predecessor, facing off in the 2006 and 2009 finals, both won by the Kickers.

COPA AMERICA

Mexico vs. Peru

Univision (KMEX/Channel 34), 5:30 p.m.

El Tri's second-teamers (plus Gold Cup hero Giovani Dos Santos) let a lead go in their opener against Chile in South America's club championship and need something here or the knockout stage will be tough to reach. Peru surprised Uruguay with a draw in its Group C opener.

Also

Ventura College, 7 p.m.

The Fusion are on top of the Southwest Division but will need to win out if they hope to derail fellow unbeatens Fresno Fuego's title hopes. The better of Utah's entrants has but two wins on a dozen games.

Also
