LOCALS: Hollywood United romps into final

By Scott French

Hollywood United FC is 90 minutes from its first national title after a one-sided victory Thursday in the National Premier Soccer League semifinals in Madison, Ala.

Brent Whitfield (Long Beach/Poly HS and Cal State Fullerton) scored two goals to lead the Hitmen (14-2-1) to a 3-0 triumph over the Milwaukee Bavarians and set up a date in Saturday's final with Jacksonville United.

Emmanuel Bentil scored the first goal early in the second half, and Whitfield, a former Chivas USA winger, put the game away with his pair.

Jacksonville United (7-4-0) stunned top seed Erie Admirals in the second semifinal, twice rallying from deficits en route to a 4-2 victory.
