GALAXY: Berhalter's foot not broken

By Scott French

The Galaxy received a little good news over the weekend: Gregg Berhalter's right foot is not broken.

L.A. lists the veteran center back as out because of a sprained foot following his injury during Thursday night's CONCACAF Champions League victory over Costa Rican champion Alajuelense. The team has not provided information on the severity of the sprain nor a timetable for his return.

Berhalter, also an assistant coach, was hurt early in last week's 2-0 victory at Home Depot Center and wore a walking boot after the game.

“I just stepped down,” he said. “I stepped, and I felt something pop in my foot. It might not be that bad. Who knows? We'll get the information [from tests] and go from there.”

Berhalter isn't expected to be available for the Galaxy's Labor Day match at Sporting Kansas City.
