Best Bets Jan. 21/22: What to watch

Chelsea at Norwich City
ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, 4:30 a.m.

The Blues sit fourth and have more to worry about with what's behind them, especially with London rival Arsenal, than catching Manchesters City and United and Tottenham, which look like a top-three to finish with. Norwich has been a pleasant surprise in its first season back in the top flight.
Newcastle United at Fulham, Fox Soccer Plus, 6:55 a.m. and midnight
Blackburn at Everton, Fox Soccer Channel, 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Fox Deportes, 7 a.m.
West Bromwich Albion at Stoke City, Fox Soccer Plus, 9 a.m.
Liverpool at Bolton, Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Deportes, 9:30 a.m.
Swansea City at Sunderland, Fox Soccer Plus, 11 a.m.
Aston Villa at Wolverhampton, Fox Soccer Channel, 2 p.m.
Australian A-League
Gold Coast United at Sydney FC, Fox Soccer Channel, 10 p.m.

Sevilla at Real Betis
ESPN Deportes, 12:55 p.m.
Sevilla sits just one point out of a European cup berth for next season and look to end a three-game league road losing streak.
Granada at Espanyol, ESPN Deportes, 8:55 a.m.
Getafe at Racing Santander, GolTV, 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Atletico Madrid at Real Sociedad, GolTV, 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
German Bundesliga
VfB Stuttgart at Schalke 04, ESPN Deportes, 6:45 a.m.
Italian Serie A
Juventus at Atalanta, Fox Soccer Channel, 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.; Fox Deportes, 11:30 a.m.

Club Tijuana at Guadalajara
Telemundo (KVEA/Channel 52), 5 p.m.
The Xolos have four points from their first two Clausura games and remain  unbeaten since Antonio Mohamed took charge in the middle of the fall Apertura. Survival is looking better all the time, and a positive result -- upset victory or draw -- against Chivas could position Tijuana for much more.
Pachuca at Cruz Azul, ESPN Deportes, 2:55 p.m.; Azteca America (KAZA/Channel 54), 3 p.m.
Pumas UNAM at Monterrey, Telefutura (KFTR/Channel 46), 3 p.m.
Atlas at Gallos Blancos, Galavision, 3 p.m.
Jaguares at Santos Laguna, Telefutura (KFTR/Channel 46), 5 p.m.
Brazilian Campeonato Paulista
Mirassol at Corinthians, ESPN Deportes, 10:55 a.m.
Argentine preseason
Boca Juniors vs. Independiente, Fox Deportes, 11 p.m.

Venezuela at United States
Galavision, 6 p.m.
Jurgen Klinsmann
takes a mostly domestic team to Glendale, Ariz., for the Yanks' 2012 opener, a match that means little except to the players hoping to show the coaching staff that they deserve a chance when the World Cup qualifying campaign begins in June.

Tottenham at Manchester City
Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Deportes, 5:30 a.m.

Spurs' start to the season wasn't good -- a 3-0 loss to City followed by a one-sided defeat to Man United -- but they've gone from strength to strength since, in great part because of former UCLA/U.S. national team star Brad Friedel's performance in the nets. The third-place Londoners can move within two points of the first-place Blues with a win.
Manchester United at Arsenal, Fox Deportes, 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Fox Soccer Channel, 2 and 8 p.m.
Middlesbrough at Coventry City, Fox Soccer Plus, 8 a.m.

UANL Tigres at Toluca
Univision (KMEX/Channel 34), 10 a.m.
Tigres, the reigning champs, have scored just twice in their first two Clausura matches, but that was enough to draw at Cruz Azul and beat Gallos Blancos. Toluca, a declining giant looking to contend again, also is 1-0-1, and a home win would make a statement.
Atlante at Puebla, Fox Deportes, 10 a.m.; Azteca America (KAZA/Channel 54), 11:55 a.m.

Lazio at Inter Milan
Fox Soccer Channel, 11:30 a.m.
The Romans, among the group chasing first-place Juventus, had won just one of four league games before disposing of Atalanta last weekend. Inter, one spot (and one point) back in fifth, looks for its seventh successive domestic victory. Replays: Fox Deportes, noon; FSC, midnight.
Parma at Bologna, Fox Soccer Plus, 3:25 a.m. and 1 a.m.
AC Milan at Novara, Fox Soccer Plus, 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Fox Soccer Channel, 8 a.m.
Cesena at AS Roma, Fox Soccer Plus, 8 a.m.
Spanish La Liga
Barcelona at Malaga, GolTV, 9 a.m.
Brazilian Campeonato Paulista
Botafogo at Sao Paulo, GolTV, 11 a.m., 7 p.m. and midnight

United States vs. Guatemala
Universal Sports, 4:30 p.m.
The U.S. women don't figure to score 14 on the Guatemalans, but their second Group B game at the CONCACAF tournament in Vancouver is just another preliminary for the games that really matter: the group finale vs. Mexico and the semifinal against, likely, Costa Rica.
